چکیده

The study assessed the removal of total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH) and polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from spent engine oil (SEO) contaminated soil through bioenhancement bacteria isolated SEO polluted soil. Sterilized was subjected to a three level contamination before addition sterilized biostimulants including powdered cow dung (CD), cocoa pod husk (CPH) compost (made fresh CPH CD). Bacterial inoculum being Staphylococcus aureus Bacillus cereus co-culture (150 mL) added mixture in polyethylene bags. It factorial experiment that laid out completely randomized design (CRD). TPH PAHs were estimated first day, fifth week tenth room incubation lasted. Results generated influence on degradation potential bacterial showed contents significantly enhanced (p < 0.05). At week, most reductions (315 380 mg kg–1) compared with other 5% 15% levels, respectively. Compost equally (48.8, 39.6 94.6 5%, 10% levels However, quantity degraded higher bioaugmented biostimulated samples control employed. technology adopted this can be effectively employed for bioremediation related pollution.

Stabilisation of Engine Oil Contaminated Soil Using Cement Kiln Dust

The utilisation of industrial bi-products such as cement kiln dust (CKD) is of increasing importance as an option for stabilising contaminated sites due to its pozzolanic nature and also in view of minimising the environmental impact. The experimental programme was carried out in the present study to evaluate the efficacy of CKD as stabilising agent at different percentages 2%, 6%, and 14% (w/w...

Isolation, Identification and Evaluation of Oil Hydrocarbon Decomposing Bacteria from Contaminated Areas of Oil Fields

Microbialbiodegradation is known as an effective and harmless method to overcome environmental pollution with oil hydrocarbon. Some bacterial species were isolated from the Sarvestan oilfields (Iran, Fars province), then identified and applied for oil hydrocarbon decomposition. A carbon-free minimum medium (CFMM) containing 1% crude oil was used to isolate bacteria through incubation at 30°C in...

Screening of Microorganisms Isolated from Petroleum Oil Contaminated Soil for Vegetable Oil Conversion to Bio-diesel

Decreasing fossil fuel stocks has prompted research and development to find alternatives, particularly from renewable energy resources. Lower alcohol, fatty ester called as Bio-Diesel production using vegetable oils with the help of biological catalysts (Lipases) is being considered as one such good alternative. Soil samples in and around petroleum stock processing plant wereused to isolate fun...

Complete Genome Sequence of Bacillus pumilus PDSLzg-1, a Hydrocarbon-Degrading Bacterium Isolated from Oil-Contaminated Soil in China

Bacillus pumilus strain PDSLzg-1, an efficient hydrocarbon-degrading bacterium, was isolated from oil-contaminated soil. Here, we present the complete sequence of its circular chromosome and circular plasmid. The genomic information is essential for the study of degradation of oil by B. pumilus PDSLzg-1.

Identification of Anise (Pimpinella anisum L.) Essential Oil Compounds and Investigation of its Effect on Some Foodborne Pathogens: Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli O157: H7and Salmonella typhimurium

Background and Objectives: Nowadays, use of essential oils in food preservation is popular by researchers not only as antimicrobial agents but also as replacements for synthetic harmful preservatives. Objectives of this study were extraction and identification of Anise essential oil (AEO) compounds as well as assessment of the oil antimicrobial properties on four Gram-negative and Gram-positive...
